Habits that will Improve your Life

There is a great interest in knowing the qualities/habits of successful people. The answer broadly is, being focused, personal discipline, and the will to make things happen frequently. One thing all successful people have in common is the good habits and daily rituals they nurture to improve the quality of their life. The truth is, old habits can be difficult to change, but some new important habits you can adapt can positively improve your life forever. Since we are what we do, these habits will improve your mental and physical wellbeing. Let us then list down some good habits that will improve your life forever.

Create a Morning Ritual

Waking up early is not the only thing that can change your life for the better. It is also about setting up a morning routine and doing similar things orderly. Making a to-do list, first thing in the morning will give you the focus and motivation to take you throughout the day. Some morning exercises such as a run, strength training and a healthy breakfast will leave you super charged. Establishing a good/meaningful morning ritual will help you to kickstart your day on a proactive note.

Following the 80/20 Rule

This principle states that in any situation, 20% of the tasks yield 80% of the result. This means that your to-do list is important, but the tasks that create the biggest impact deserve most of your time and energy. That is, if you focus on this 20%, you would have maximized productivity and have the freedom to focus on other activities on the same to-do list.

Learn to Single Task

Although you may assume that the art of multi-tasking comes naturally, it is important to note that only 2% of the people in the world can multitask successfully. There is no harm in multi-tasking occasionally, however, constant juggling between tasks limit your focus. Multitasking lowers efficiency and may impair your cognitive control. Instead of multitasking, choose one thing on your to-do list and give it your complete and undivided attention until you are done. Single tasking will make you realize you feel less stresses, make fewer mistakes and become more productive.

Occasional Social Media Detox

Some of the information on social media can either impact you positively or negatively. It does not matter how positive it is though, sometimes you can get so consumed in social media that you lose touch with reality, also not to forget how time consuming it is. A social media detox seems to be the only reasonable remedy in such a situation to reduce stress levels. Just switch off your phone or any other device you may use to access social media for a few hours every day. This will help in improving your mood and reconnect with the world around you.

Regular Exercise

One should set aside at least 15-20 minutes in a day for exercise. The benefits of regular exercise are countless. Other than the physical improvement, regular exercise pump up creativity and and enhance your cognitive skills. Also with regular exercise, your social behavior will improve, appetite will be normal, digestion will be seamless, better sleep, improved memory and the list of benefits goes on.

Create Social Connections with Positive People

Social connections not only give us pleasure, but they also influence our long term health. It is as important as nutrition, sleep and exercise. When creating social connections, be mindful of the individuals you are associating yourself with. They should also have a positive approach towards life or on the journey towards one.
